I'll overwhelm 'credible fighter' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the pair confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former twice unified title holder Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Fighter's Mentality

"I will injure his face and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of those words, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - normally famous for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul rather targeted former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at British rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer remains one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in round four or five and asserted he would stop the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"It's going to be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.

Size Difference

As both boxers engaged in the usual face-off, with their physical disparity on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is truly happening.
